Our aim to deliver the purest boating experience has culminated in the creation of a line of go-anywhere quality aluminium yacht: the Bestevaer.
Designed by world-renowned sailor and naval architect Gerard Dijkstra, the Bestevaer family combines high performance with gorgeous functionalist design. No wonder Bestevaer has become the boat of choice for sailing fanatics, explorers, scientists, and adventurers of all kinds.

Dijkstra’s dream yacht
World-renowned naval architect and polar sailor Gerard Dijkstra thinks up his dream yacht for personal use: the iconic Bestevaer II. The II brings together Dijkstra’s experience and expertise in racing, polar sailing, and naval design.
Tranquilo leads the way
A new legend sees the light. The Tranquilo is a 56 foot Bestevaer used mainly for solo sailing. Since her launch she has twice sailed the Northwest Passage solo (in 2012 and 2017), explored Patagonia, the Antarctic peninsula, and has resided ten months in the frozen seas of Northern Canada.
The first 49-er
Several large Bestevaers have been built by now, but the first 49-footer sees the light in 2009. The Katharos features a plain hull and has outstanding sailing properties. Light on the helm, fast and manoeuvrable.
Morning Haze
This 55-footer with lift keel is the home of a family of four who left for an extendedworld voyage right after delivery. They first sailed along Europe and North Africa and then crossed over to the Caribbean. Morning Haze has visited Greenland three times, and in 2018 she crossed the Northwest Passage with a crew of three.
The self sufficient Bestevaer
The 66 foot Anabel is the first Bestevaer that can travel the farthest corners of the world completely self-reliantly and independently. It features a large set of batteries, plenty of solar panels on deck and two large telescopic wind generators.
The Bestevaer Series
2016 marks the introduction of Pure, the Bestevaer semi-custom series. Derived from the Bestevaer II, this line is available as a 45, 49 or 53 footer. The 45-footer is nominated for the Sailing Yacht of the Year Award.
Introducing the Bestevaer Motor Yacht
An explorer motor yacht inspired by the same design principles as the Bestevaer sailing yacht. In 2020 we launched the Bestevaer 53 M/Y. The yacht is nominated for the European Powerboat of the Year Award.
Georgeous Greatness
The largest 1/1 custom-built Bestevaer is the 72-foot Symbiose. Designed to accommodate the different wishes of a multi-generation family, the Symbiose feels just at home in the higher latitude as it does in the Mediterranean.
The Green Explorer
The smallest and greenest Bestevaer sailing yacht yet: Bestevaer 36 S/Y. Born from Dijkstra’s vision of exploring shallow waters and smaller marinas, this yacht was meticulously designed to fulfill his aspirations. With its ability to dry out and navigate the intricate waters of the Wadden Sea, the Bestevaer 36 S/Y stands as a testament to innovation and collaboration in yacht design, marking a milestone in maritime exploration.
European Yacht of the Year 2024
The Bestevaer 36 S/Y wins the European Yacht of the Year 2024 award, category ‘Special Mentioning Sustainability’ celebrated for its unrivaled agility and commitment to sustainability.
